About
Bandipur, once the exclusive hunting grounds of the Maharaja, is a stunningly untamed landscape. while deer and other wildlife gaze boldly at visitors. Peafowl flit in and out at their leisure, adding to the park s vibrant beauty. Situated at the foothills of the Nilgiris, Bandipur has long been a sanctuary for tigers, and is one of only thirty reserves across India dedicated to protecting the big cats and their habitats. Additionally, the park serves as one of the few remaining refuges for the endangered Asiatic wild elephant.

The Call Of The Wild.
Jungle Lodges offers you a nice, homely stay in the forests of Bandipur. The rooms are homely, individual and well-kept but don''t expect anything over the top. Then again, if you spend all day out on the safari, that''s not something to worry about. Jungle Lodges is a nice, affordable place to stay in, amidst the wild.

Fantastic accommodation
Fantastic accommodation, buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner serving good food. Ask for a lime and soda drink (choose sweet or sour) they are great. We did their standard trip... arrive, have lunch, go on safari jeep ride, watch a documentary, have dinner, bed, early morning safari jeep ride, breakfast and depart. We didn''t see tiger or leopard and for that reason I was about to give 4 stars but that seems unfair as this is the wild and not a zoo. At one point we did feel like there were too many jeeps and perhaps no one ever sees any big cats but we heard from another couple that they had seen a tiger a day or two ago drinking from a watering hole. So I guess you have to stay for a few days to give yourself the best chance. Bring bionoculars and a good camera - can pretty much guarantee you will see various types of deer, some interesting birds and elephants. But maybe, if you are dead set on seeing tiger, there are other reserves worth visiting as well. Dining hall and safari Staff were good and the rooms were large, comfortable, quiet and had a decent shower (although we got a twin rather than the double we requested). There is a weird paying system so take money with you to breakfast on your last day as you will be presented with your bill then.

Standards maintained
Standards maintained. Easy to get accommodation. Comfortable stay and good food. The staff are polite and helpful. Wildlife sightings may not be as good as the safaris in kabini / nagarhole.

Overall a great place
This is our 4th visit to Bandipur safari lodge and we stayed for 3 nights. The Lodge is located about 2 km from the safari point and is an excellent base for morning and evening safaris. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff will win you over with their sincerity, warmth, and courtesy. The food was homely and varied and yummy… especially the breakfast after the long safari. The naturalist Nataraj is very knowledgeable and has amazing animal/bird spotting abilities. Don’t forget to ask him for anecdotes! The forest itself is dry deciduous so the safaris are dusty so ensure to carry something to cover your nose. Overall a great place to stay if wildlife and jungles hold your interest.
