- 220 Kms. from Bengaluru - Bengaluru - Mysore - Nanjangud - Gundlupet - Bandipur Safari Lodge
Once the private hunting grounds of the Maharaja, Bandipur is unapologetically wild terrain. Elephants roam in large herds, deer stare at you brazenly and peafowl flit in and out as they deem fit. Nestled at the foothills of the Nilgiris, Bandipur has had a long tryst with tigers. One of the thirty reserves identified across the country to save the tiger and its habitat, it’s also one of the last refuges of the endangered Asiatic wild elephant. The Bandipur Safari Lodge is your way of being a part of this ecological haven.
Buffet Lunch, Dinner and Breakfast will be served in the Golghar.
Check-in : 12noon Check-out : 11am

Our stay in JLR-Bandipur from 1st Jan to 4th Jan was excellent. From the time we checked in at 1245 pm on 1st to our departure on 4th at 1015 am, the staff on site were extremely cordial and always willing to help. To name a few, Mr Suresh, Mr Prakash, our Guides cum Drivers of the vehicles [Mr Siddhu, Mr Nagendran, Mr Mudhu], all the staff in the dining section were extremely helpful. The food was excellent with a decent variety. The cottage rooms were large and comfortable, including the additional cot. I do not know if the vehicles can be changed over to battery-operated ones, as the current ones are pretty noisy; but maybe the animals are more accustomed to these and whether a change over to noiseless ones might trigger a reaction from them [I dont know]. On the first safari itself, we were able to see a leopard striding down the trail before disappearing in the bush. The other five safari visits were nice with sightings of a variety of birds [the Guides were superb with the knowledge they had on them], elephant etc. We had stayed in your Kabini resort which had more animals to be seen; a sighting of the majestic tiger in JLR-Bandipur would have been the icing on the cake ... but we cant have all going our way. Overall our score would be 9/10

The service was good but we were expecting more food varieties in non-veg.

Have been staying in the Bandipur safari lodge quite often and it was a great pleasure to see the great improvements in this resort. The cottages have been freshly painted and spruced up. The food was fantastic. Nice to see the improvement. Despite being bang on the highway, one will not feel it once inside. One can get a jungle feel inside due to the trees and other foliage all over the place. Keep it up.

JLR are stupendous as usual, I''ve been to Kabini , Hampi and Bandipur now a wonderful & memorable stay. The staffs are very friendly, An "experienced naturalist and driver" by the side, great experience any wildlife enthusiast will enjoy. Carnivorous spotting will be sheer luck but the Stay and the Safari will be a memorable one. When you pay it seems like whacking expense, but you will accord once you get into the stay, We stayed in the special cottage for Two days - cool location and Bandipur is the only JLR situated outskirts of the forest but still feels to be like amidst it. The maintenance is awe-inspiring ... Thumbs Up to you guys .. Keep up the Good work

This is our 4th visit to Bandipur safari lodge and we stayed for 3 nights. The Lodge is located about 2 km from the safari point and is an excellent base for morning and evening safaris. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff will win you over with their sincerity, warmth, and courtesy. The food was homely and varied and yummy… especially the breakfast after the long safari. The naturalist Nataraj is very knowledgeable and has amazing animal/bird spotting abilities. Don’t forget to ask him for anecdotes! The forest itself is dry deciduous so the safaris are dusty so ensure to carry something to cover your nose. Overall a great place to stay if wildlife and jungles hold your interest.

Jungle Lodges offers you a nice, homely stay in the forests of Bandipur. The rooms are homely, individual and well-kept but don''t expect anything over the top. Then again, if you spend all day out on the safari, that''s not something to worry about. Jungle Lodges is a nice, affordable place to stay in, amidst the wild.

We headed to the JLR Bandipur Safari Lodge for a 2 night stay on a hot Friday. This resort is bang on the Mysore-Ooty highway, you cannot miss it. This one, like any other JLR resort has all inclusive fares. The rooms are clean, staff friendly and helpful. However, this being one of the older properties of JLR, the furniture in the rooms are dated. Since we visited during the dry season, the resort lacked greenery. The JLR team arranged for jeep safaris every morning and afternoon, which was primarily the reason why we had chosen to stay in JLR. The drivers were knowledgeable and knew their way around the jungle and tried their best to ensure our safaris were fruitful. There''s something with JLR and the food.. Even though the food spread and taste was always good, I have always felt its a bit badly managed when the resort is full and non-veg options are limited. Having said that, I would always recommend JLR for stay for any visit to Bandipur, simply because their tie ups with the govt. for the safaris is the best.

Fantastic accommodation, buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner serving good food. Ask for a lime and soda drink (choose sweet or sour) they are great. We did their standard trip... arrive, have lunch, go on safari jeep ride, watch a documentary, have dinner, bed, early morning safari jeep ride, breakfast and depart. We didn''t see tiger or leopard and for that reason I was about to give 4 stars but that seems unfair as this is the wild and not a zoo. At one point we did feel like there were too many jeeps and perhaps no one ever sees any big cats but we heard from another couple that they had seen a tiger a day or two ago drinking from a watering hole. So I guess you have to stay for a few days to give yourself the best chance. Bring bionoculars and a good camera - can pretty much guarantee you will see various types of deer, some interesting birds and elephants. But maybe, if you are dead set on seeing tiger, there are other reserves worth visiting as well. Dining hall and safari Staff were good and the rooms were large, comfortable, quiet and had a decent shower (although we got a twin rather than the double we requested). There is a weird paying system so take money with you to breakfast on your last day as you will be presented with your bill then.

Standards maintained. Easy to get accommodation. Comfortable stay and good food. The staff are polite and helpful. Wildlife sightings may not be as good as the safaris in kabini / nagarhole.

We stayed here for a couple of nights, and the entire experience was awesome, right from when we entered the resort. The cottage was immaculate and spacious and the staff who brought our luggage in and guided us through the check in were pleasant and smiling. Food is good and homely, and there are multiple options. The safaris were brilliant, ours were with Nagendra who's a brilliant tracker and tried his best to get us good sightings. There's a wake up call at 5.30 for the 6am safari, and reporting time for the afternoon safari is 3.15. Lots of bird sightings in the reserve limits as well as in the resort. We were lucky enough to spot dhole, a leopard, and a baby elephant with mum and aunt. What made it extra special was that every one of the staff at the resort always had a smile on their face, asking if you needed something and if you had eaten - you don't see hospitality like this too often. Thank you team for the awesome holiday.

A JLR property the bandipur safari lodge has cottages and is just out side the gates of the park. Large Comfortable cottages with ensuite bathrooms. We were there only for one night. They provide transport to ferry anyone who has difficulty walking up the slope. The jeeps go from the base. They also screen a film on the park which is very instructive. Their dining room where all meals are served. Was close to our cottages.( The package includes all meals) including tea and snacks after the evening safari. Rates are inclusive of a morning and evening safari by jeep in the park. the driver is a trained guide of the forests. They know the flora fauna and birds and point them out when sighted
